Billboard is known for creating controversial “best-ever” lists, and their latest list, “The 75 Best R&B Artists of All Time,” is no exception.
The list is ranked based on criteria such as “vocal prowess, body of work, career longevity, industry achievements, game-changing influence, and enduring generational/cultural impact.”
The top pick of the list will be unveiled on Juneteenth (June 19) in honor of Black Music Month.
The list has sparked spirited discussions among fans about the placement of some of the genre’s most prized acts.
Names that have failed to make the list include Chris Brown, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, Anita Baker, Brandy, and Toni Braxton.
Fans can see the full list of the top 25 R&B artists so far on Billboard’s website.
