A class of Ecuadorian students found themselves in the middle of a Zoom robbery. While a teacher was instructing a class of two dozen students online, the kids watching noticed that one of their classmates was caught in the middle of a real-time robbery.

On the video, we see a rather subdued group of kids listening to their teacher when suddenly a middle square shows disturbing action: A student, identified as Maria Jose, turns to face the doorway of the room she’s in, through which two masked intruders appear to push a family member. Maria Jose and her family member are backed into a corner, where they can no longer be seen on screen. That’s when other students start to catch on and one boy interrupts the teacher by yelling, “They are robbing Majo’s house!” The teacher says, “Quickly, call the police! Call the parents!” Maria Jose’s laptop camera is then knocked out.

The good news update is the police quickly captured and arrested those responsible for the theft. Officers tracked down the suspects via their smartphones and recovered about $5,500 in cash, a laptop (probably Maria’s), and two firearms, among other items. In even better news, Maria Jose was reportedly uninjured.
