FCC Receives 125 Complaints About Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Concert

By Alyssa Mar 27, 2025 | 1:51 PM

Kendrick Lamar’s February Super Bowl halftime show received 125 complaints to the FCC, criticizing its political iconography, lyrics, and choreography.

Complaints focused on the show not being appropriate for all ages, with one viewer from Lenox, IL, expressing concern that their children were exposed to it.

Some viewers called the show “racist” against White people, questioning the lack of White performers and the portrayal of Uncle Sam as Black.

Despite complaints, Lamar’s performance, like all Super Bowl halftime shows, was censored for profanity.

Positive critiques of Lamar’s performance came from Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, who called it “the deepest thing [he’d] ever seen at a Super Bowl.”
